JOVINGS, JAKE "JACK" surrounded by his loving family and friends left us peacefully on February 9, 2007 due to his long battle with heart disease.

Jack was born to the late Sam and Pauline Larussa Jovings on October 22, 1937 and was a life long resident of Birmingham.

Jack graduated from John Carroll High School where he met the love of his life Josephine Renta. Jack and Josephine wed and were blessed with three children: Sam, Nick, and Jacqueline. Jack and Josephine celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 20, 2006. Jack retired as Vice President of J.C. Curry and Company.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Josephine; his two sons, and his daughter. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Jack was a member of St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 635.

The family will be receiving friends at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church Monday, February 12, 2007 from 5:30PM to 7:00PM. The wake service will be held at 7:00PM following the visitation. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 10:30AM at the church. The family will also be receiving friends at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Kirklin Clinic, UAB Hospital, and to Alacare Hospice for the loving care they provided our loved one. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Road, Hoover, Alabama 35216.
