Sharon was born June 22, 1944 in Pyrites, the daughter of the late Ceylon and Jessie (Martin) Brabaw. She attended elementary school in Pyrites and graduated from Canton Central School. She married Paul L. Allen Jr. on April 20, 1963. He predeceased her on August 1, 1999.
Sharon worked for LaidLaw Bus Service for Lisbon School, Canton Central School and St. Lawrence University where she cooked at various fraternity and sorority houses. She enjoyed camping, riding motor cycles and long rides in cars where she would jam out to her favorite songs. Her favorite movie was Turner and Hooch and Pretty Woman. She had a great sense of humor, was a caring and loving women who was always willing to lend a hand. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. But she will be most remembered for all of her home cooking.
Sharon is survived by three daughters, Theresa Butterfield of Ogdensburg, April (Edward) Planty of Potsdam and Paula (Mark) Niles of Canton; grandchildren, Tiffany, Billy (Amanda), Allen, Theron, Dakota, Austin, Gabriella and April; and great-grandchildren, Aiden, Isaiah, Logan, Alona, Wyatt, Zander. Also surviving are a brother, Wayne (Patty) Brabaw of Potsdam; a sister, Marlene (Arnold) Cota of S. Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Ceylon; and by sisters, Eunice, Pauline, Bonnie and Joan.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. A graveside service at the Fairview Cemetery, Canton will be held at a later date.
