Mr. Arndt had lived near Lincoln since he was a small child. He grew up on his father's fruit farm in the Mt. Pleasant District. After leaving the farm he followed the garage business for some years. During the last few years of his life he was engaged in other work and mining.
He died from gas or mineral poisoning from a mine near Grass Valley that he and his nephew Frank Warren had been working. His nephew didn't get ill, but the doctors advised him to stay away from that location until an analysis could be made.
