Blessed Mieczysława Kowalska Grew up in a family of socialists. Joined the Capuchin Poor Clare nuns at the convent of Przasnysz, Poland on 12 August 1923, taking the name Maria Teresa of the Child Jesus; she made her perpetual vows in 26 June 1928. Arrested by invading Germans with her sister nuns on 2 April 1941, and sent to a concentration camp in East Prussia. Martyred by Nazis in occupied Poland for refusing to renounce her faith. She died on the night of 25 July 1941 in the prison camp at Dzialdowo, Warminsko-Mazurskie, Poland (Soldau concentration camp)
