MRS OLIVIA CORWIN
Riverhead- Mrs Olivia Corwin passed away Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs Harriet O Hartranft. Mrs Corwin was born at Stony Brook 89 years ago. She was the daughter of Captain Shaler Hawkins of that place, and a sister of Captains George, Ebenezer, Simeon, Edward and Jedediah Hawkins, all well known and late residents of Jamesport. Mrs Corwin was married twice. Her first husband was John J Otis of Saybrook, Conn, where most of her early life was passed, and where her four children were born. After her widowhood, she came to Riverhead to reside with her daughter, Mrs Hartranft and later because the wife of Charles L Corwin, one of Riverhead's best known citizens. Since Mr Corwin's death she has again made her home with Mrs Hartranft. Because of her cheerful, sunny disposition and kindly spirit she endeared herself to every one with whom she came in contact, and leaves hosts of friends to mourn her loss. Mrs Corwin is survived by her daughter, Mrs Hartranft, a sister Mrs Sophia Smith of Jamaica, and a half brother and sister, Capt Elbert Hawkins and Mrs Ella Bennett of Stony Brook. The funeral was held at her late residence Wednesday afternoon and interment was in Riverhead cemetery.
