Agnes Groce Reeves Miles, age 91, of Fayetteville, TN passed away on October 20, 2018 at Lincoln Medical Center. She was born in Bedford County, TN on August 7, 1927, daughter of the late Katie B. & Albert Reeves.
Mrs. Miles retired from Jack Daniel’s Distillery after over 30 years of employment. She loved square dancing, playing cards, tending to her flowers, quilting, bluegrass and gospel music and the harness races at the Lincoln County Fair. She cared for the neighborhood feral cats and the Stone Bridge Park ducks (she’s been called “The Duck Lady” for years!). Her greatest pleasure was in spending time with family. She was the matriarch of five generations, a fact that was her biggest source of pride.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Groce and Charles ‘Chuck’ Miles, and her brother, George ‘Son’ Reeves.
Mrs. Miles is survived by her children: Alberta Groce and Frankie J. Harlin both of Fayetteville, TN; five grandchildren: Michaela ‘Miki’ (Kenny) Campbell, Cheryl L. Payne (Carlton Hicks), Tisha (Terry) Norman, Gavin McFerrin and Melissa Franklin; eleven great grandchildren: Matthew (Martha) Paris, Dezarae Reyna (Sam-Elizabeth Carver), Sloane Paris (Jay) Pittenger, Olivia Shea Paris (Tyler Jones), Demitrius (Balbina) Romero, Madisyn McFerrin, Meah Powell, Ethan McFerrin, Jeremia Powell, Trinity McFerrin and Milachi Franklin; six great-great grandchildren: Kinley Anderson, Braelyn Paris, Wyatt Paris, Isabella Pittenger, Foster Pittenger and Meridian Romero; and her special friend: John Thomas.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
