Elizabeth Jane (Shanafelt) Alderson, beloved daughter of Henry and Hannah (Hartle) Shanafelt, born 1834. She married Amos Alderson on February 26, 1854 in Morgan County, Indiana. Their first child, Clarence Marion Alderson was born February 28, 1855. A baby girl, Sarah Catherine Alderson was born September 11, 1856 and died October 24, 1856 at only six weeks old. Twenty-three year old Elizabeth Jane died two and a half months after her baby died, right at four months after giving birth to her. Elizabeth Jane's death was recorded in the family Bible by her brother, Samuel Shanafelt: "Jane Allderson, sister of Samuel Shanafelt deceased on the 7th day of January, 1857 in the 23rd year of her age." Son, Clarence Marion Alderson, died at the young age of 21 years.

No stone can be found for the grave of Elizabeth Jane (Shanafelt) Alderson. There are some spaces between the graves of her two children. Without a doubt she would have been buried by her baby daughter Sarah Catherine, having died within months of each other. Her husband, Amos married Sarah Jane Cowgill on February 9, 1858. Their graves can also be found with these two children.
