V. Lucille Mays
V. Lucille Mays, 67, Mulberry, died at 1:30 a.m. yesterday at Clinton County Hospital. She had been living in Frankfort Nursing Home for 5 1/2 years.
Born June 1, 1911, in Albion, Inc., she was the daughter of Ronald and Edith (Cornelius) Nowles. On April 5, 1930, she married Noel D. Mays, and he survives.
Mrs. Mays was a Mulberry resident for 39 years, and was a member of the Mulberry United Methodist Church and Mulberry Chapter 459 of the Eastern Star.
Other survivors include one son, Elmer D. of Clarks Hill; a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Phyllis) Snodgrass of Mulberry; five sisters, Rena Knox of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Coy Sheperdson of Cassleberry, Fla., Mildred Hall of Niles, Mich., Katherie Smith of Memphis, Tenn., and Gladys Burnett of Decatur, Ga.; three brothers, Raymond Nowles of Columbus, Ohio, Robert Nowles of Miami, Fla., and Donald Nowles of Franklin, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Johnson Funeral Home, Mulberry, with Rev. E. Vaughn Powell and Rev. Robert J. Dexter officiating. Burial will be in Fair Haven Cemetery, Mulberry. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today.
