Gary was born to Oran Hazen Bourne and Bertha LaDeen Baxter. He served for four years in the Navy aboard the destroyer, USS James C. Owens 776. He married his high school sweetheart, Esther Roberta "Bobbie" Taylor on April 24, 1953, in Salt Lake City, and they were married for 65 wonderful years. He spent most of his career working at what is now Idaho National Laboratory as a nuclear chemist. Gary and Bobbie's oldest child was a special needs whom they cared for for over 60 years. Gary was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. His life was centered around his family and he spent a lot of quality time camping, boating and spending time with children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker and was very orderly and organized. Survivors included children: David Bourne of Idaho Falls, Diane (Bill) of Richland, Washington state, Don (LeAnn) of Shelley, and Debbie (Leonard) of Idaho Falls; siblings Hal Bourne and Joan Perron; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceded by brothers Dell and Dennis and sisters Bonnie and Laurel. Funeral Services held November 3rd at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Brian Wood officiated. Military Rites were performed by Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Navy Honor Guard.
