A.E. Winans, 70, of 12 Villa Grove, died at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 1962, at St. John's Hospital.

Mr. Winans was born at Olney and had been a resident of Springfield 21 years.

Prior to that, he had resided in St. Louis for 20 years.

He was unit supervisor for Proctor & Gamble Co. for 33 years retiring in 1953.

Surviving are his widow, Fern S.; one daughter, Mrs. Bettie Jo Smith, of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. James Leaton, of Wilmette; and one grandson.

Private services were held at Smith Funeral Chapel.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
