Following their wedding the couple located at Angels Camp, Cal. a mining town where Mr. Scribner conducted a general store.
A few years later they returned to Whitehall, NY where Mr. Scribner engaged in the lumber business. When the Tonawandas became prominent as a lumber market he came here. That was in 1875.
The late Mrs. James S. Thompson of North Tonawanda and Mrs. James H. Rand, Sr., North Falmouth, Mass., were born at Angels Camp. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Guy White; a son James W. Scribner, North Tonawanda; seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
