Sarah Jane Bailey, daughter of P.D. [Percival DeShield] and Deborah T. (Waterhouse) Bailey, was born at Mount Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa, November 27, 1859; departed this life January 16, 1941, at the age of 81 years 1 month and 21 days after an illness of three weeks. She was raised by her parents in Oakville, Louisa County, Iowa, but for many years resided in Nebraska and Oregon.

On December 18, 1875, Sarah was united in marriage to Alpheus Mortimer Wilson, who passed away January 2, 1933 in Maxwell, Lincoln County, Nebraska. To their union was born one son, Reason Pierce, who died in infancy, and two daughters, Amanda T. Triggs of Cross Timber, Hickory County, Missouri, and Tirzah M. Kohler of Klamath Falls, Oregon, at whose home she passed away.

She left to mourn her passing her two daughters, two son-in-laws, John William Triggs and Mr. Kohler, 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, John C. Bailey of Oakville, Iowa and William S. Bailey, Wapello, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Tirzah E. Erbes, Klamath Falls, Oregon, and many other relatives and friends who mourned her passing. Mrs. Erbes was at the bedside of her sister when she passed away.

Sarah was preceded by her parents; her husband and son; brothers James M. and Taylor L.; sister Amanda Elizabeth (Bailey) Lee; and son-in-law Peter Ferdinand Sukraw, husband of daughter Tirzah.

From 1889 until 1933, she and her husband resided on their homestead, seven miles north of Maxwell, Nebraska, until his death, after which she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Kohler and family. They lived at Brady, Nebraska, for a year or two and then moved to Klamath Falls.
