Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 27th at 2pm at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1165 Mt. Moriah Church Rd., Clinton with Dr. Mike Cummings, Rev. Brandon Brewington and Rev. Terry Cummings officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.
Born on June 27, 1929, Mrs. Ruby was the daughter of the late Luther and Bessie Jacobs Brewington, and the widow of Mr. Wilbert Lee Bell. She was a lifelong member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and was a pillar of the church for many years. Her life was totally dedicated to God and her family. She enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful seamstress, having sewn many outfits for her children over the years. Mrs. Ruby enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, whom she adored. She had a smile that would light up a room, and was a blessing to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Kay Bell Rowe (David) of Wilmington, and Karen Carter (Tim) of Clinton; her sons, Dwain Bell (Glennice) of St. Pauls and Travis Bell of Lumber Bridge; her brother, Sterlon Brewington (Betty) of Charlotte; her special cousin and husband, Eleanor Rose & Lawrence (Smitty) Smith and Dr. Trina Prather, who was very devoted to Mrs. Ruby over the years and called her “Mama”. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews that supported her and the family during her hospitalization.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Elizabeth Maynor and Leatrice Cowan; and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bell.
