S/Sgt Russell George Blakely was the Top Turret Gunner of the B-17G # 42-102535 of the 452nd Bomb Group,729th Bomb Squadron. Assigned target,Munich Germany. Aircraft received direct 88mm FLAK hit below the pilots seat and the aircraft blew up. Aircraft crashed near Munich airfield. The body of S/Sgt Blakeley was found September 8th 1944 in a remote beet field on the estate Obergrashof,Dachau without parachute and was buried at the spot.On November 17th 1944 he was buried in Dachau new cemetery. 7 KIA,2 POW.
