On last Wednesday morning, Miss Martha J. Miller died very suddenly at the residence of her step-father, Mr. John H. Wolf. She had been in bad health since last winter, when she had an attack of the grippe, but it was not thought her condition was critical. She was under the charge of a physician, but able to go about, having been out to the woods on last Sunday and about the house on Tuesday. She was a young woman of amiable disposition and her death is greatly deplored by her host of young friends in this city and vicinity. She leaves a mother (Mrs. J.H. Wolf), four brothers and a twin sister, two half-brothers and a half-sister to mourn her loss, one of the brothers being Mr. C.B. Miller, of the City Drug Store. The funeral was held at the appointed time on Thursday afternoon and was largely attended. At the Congregational church a large congregation collected to witness the ceremonies, which were conducted by Rev. Smith, the pastor. After the service the remains were followed to the Carbondale cemetery where they were laid to rest. The community will unite with the Carbondalian in extending to the bereaved family their sympathy and condolence in this sad visitation to their home.
