Martha was the daughter of John Smith b. Aug. 22, 1715 d. June 7, 1785 Woodbridge, Middlesex County, Province of New Jersey, and Sarah Freeman b. 1718 d. 1774. Martha married Adam Green in 1775. They were forced to flee to Upper Canada as loyalists after the American Revolution. They were granted land and settled at Forty Creek (Stoney Creek). Martha died shortly after the birth of her tenth child, Billy Green (The Scout)
