Born to Paul and Elizabeth Clerget
Came to Sumner from Southeast Texas in 1923, bought the land known as Clerget Farms in 1924 and farmed continuously for the next 70 years, becoming ill in 1994 and living on the farm until his death.
Raised rhubarb, berries, cherries, bulbs, peaches, and was a beekeeper, fisherman and hunter of renowned prowess.
During the depression of the 1930's, Joe housed and fed more than 30 people on his farm in Sumner.
