ELKHART -- Donald V. Marks, 89, of 175 Foster Ave., died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 22, 2005) at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born June 26, 1916, in Elkhart County, to Charles A. and Edna (Pletcher) Marks. On March 20, 1937, he married Kathryn J. Reed in Wakarusa.

She survives, along with two daughters, Patricia J. (Buell) Loucks and Janet S. (Richard) Stewart, both of Elkhart; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Marks Jr. of Mishawaka; and two sisters, Jean Grames of Cairo, Ill., and Kathleen Lyerla of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard; and two sisters, Wilma Chester and Loreen Ver Berkmoes.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, officiated by the Rev. Brian Cray of Faith United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Goshen.

Mr. Marks was a welder for the former Metal Forming Corp. He retired in 1974. He was president of the local metal forming union for several years.

He attended Faith United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
