Manitowoc - Karen R. Cherney, age 75, of 2350 South 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon, November 2, 2018 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.

Mom was born on October 14th 1943 in Manitowoc, the daughter of the late Roland and Virginia (Leist) Dufek. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1961. Mom married Richard (Dick) Cherney, the love of her life on June 21, 1969. Richard preceded her in death on October 21, 1990. Mom loved to dance with dad, chicken dinners at Koral's Bar and Restaurant, and of course, her Gin Martini (after 4pm)

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Debbie Cherney of Anoka, MN, Bob and Tammy Cherney of Shawano WI.; one daughter and son-in-law: Bonnie and Brian Zywicke of Waukesha, WI.; three grandchildren: Hannah Rose Cherney, Jordan and Jaden Zywicke; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Judy Hardtke of Manitowoc, Joan and Jerry Kiesow of Mesa AZ.; and one brother and sister-in-law: Ronald and Diane Cherney of New Holstein WI. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom will be greeted in heaven by her husband: Richard A. Cherney Jr.(1990), her parents: Roland(1969) and Virginia Dufek(1999), father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard A. Cherney Sr.(1991) and Viola Cherney(2003), and two brothers-in-law: George H. Hardtke(1999) and Donald Cherney(1948).

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Avenue) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Pleier with burial of Karen's cremated remains at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 16th 2018. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. led by Deacon Mark Knipp. Friends may also call Saturday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Avenue) Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
