David O. Altergott, age 63, a resident of Two Rivers, died on Friday morning, July 22, 2011 at the Hamilton Care Center in Two Rivers.

David was born on July 15, 1948 in Manitowoc, son of the late Otto and Joyce (Spendlove) Altergott. He was a 1966 graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School. On March 19, 1988 he was married to the former Deborah Kanugh in Manitowoc. Deborah preceded him in death on November 29, 2007. In the past David worked for Hamiltons and enjoyed cooking, camping and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include five children: Tracy (Mike) Maslona, TN; Bradley (Sue) Altergott, CO; Brian (Megan) Altergott, Sheboygan; Caressa (Jesse) Swetlik, Two Rivers; Nathan Altergott, Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Olivia Maslona; Darion, Dexter and Diedrich Swetlik; one brother: Richard Altergott of Two Rivers and his special friend: Kay Faber; his mother-in-law: Jean Kanugh, Two Rivers; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Mike (Kathy) Kanugh, Milwaukee; Tony Kanugh, WI; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Otto and Joyce Altergott; his wife: Deborah Altergott; and his father-in-law: Raymond Kanugh.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, 1500 Hwy 310, Manitowoc. Deacon Alan Boeldt will officiate, with burial of his cremated remains to follow in the Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may call on Friday at the chapel from noon until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Altergott family.
