Joyce G. Lemke, 78, formerly of Denmark, passed away at the House of the Dove Hospice Home in Marshfield on Thursday, November 8, with family at her side.
Joyce was born April 17, 1940 in Montpelier to Julius and Helen (Krueger) Reckelberg. She graduated Kewaunee High School in 1958 and on September 20 that same year married Myron Lemke. They raised three daughters, farmed and worked off the farm as well. Throughout the years, Joyce worked at Mirro Aluminum, NEW Plastics, Krohn Dairy and until her stroke in 2006, at Festival Foods.
She was active in the Ladies Aid and Church Choir at St. John’s and the Kewaunee County Lakeshore Riders. She was a 4-H Leader and an avid supporter of their daughters activities, especially the Bolt Buccaneers 4-H and the Denmark FFA.
To know Joyce was to know that she loved her Lord and family first with the Green Bay Packers not far behind. She loved to cook, sew and help and support her family in whatever endeavors they chose; sports, concerts, remodeling homes and exhibiting animals at fairs were among her favorites.

Joyce is survived by her daughters Nancy (Alan) Vandermeuse, Green Bay, Donna (Tom) Odeen, Loyal and Adele (Dave) Huser, Vesper; grandchildren: Luke Vandermeuse, Green Bay, Colette (Jason) Zimmerman, Wisconsin Rapids, Bryan (Lisamarie) Odeen, Osage, IA, Trevor Odeen, Eau Claire, Dustin (Tina) Huser and Nathan (Carissa) Huser of Vesper and Sierra Huser, River Falls; great-grandchildren: Maren, Hattie and Anders Odeen, Braxton, Beckham and Brayson Huser and Ronan and Renly Huser; siblings and in-laws: Audrey Reckelberg, Wilma Rehbein, Wayne Petersen, Adolph (Mary) Reckelberg, Anita (John) Schuller, Verni (Maynard) Ihlenfeld and Bernice (Bruce) Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron, her parents, in-laws Rudolph and Adeline Lemke, granddaughter Jana Huser, great granddaughter Tirzah Huser, siblings and in-laws Fred Reckelberg, Don Rehbein, Alvira Petersen, Ludwig Reckelberg, Leo and Judy Rabas.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the amazing staff at the House of the Dove for their care, love and friendship shown to Mom and us throughout the past seven months.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty Rd R, Denmark, on Saturday, November 17 from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:30am, with Pastor Bryan Odeen, Joyce’s grandson, officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gibson. Pallbearers include her grandchildren: Luke Vandermeuse, Colette Zimmerman, Trevor Odeen, Dustin, Nathan and Sierra Huser and Joyce’s “adopted grandson” Jaime (Sparky) Sparkes. Music will be provided by her grand and great-grandchildren and special friend, Emily Brockman.
