Nellie Carver, 37, a widowed farm laborer, was listed in the 1930 census of Hinds County, Mississippi, with 3 sons and 1 daughter; Martin, age 16, Joseph, age 13, Malcolm, age 6, and daughter Cecil, age 11. In 1940, she was still in Hinds County and son Malcolm was the only child still living with her. She was working as a seamstress.

Son: Joseph "Joe" Roland Carver, husband of Verna Margaret (Pavlock) Carver. They were the parents of Barney Phillip Carver, who married Peggy Ann Jackson.
