He retired in 1975 as an engineer from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 32 years of service. He was also the owner of MGM Travel Service in Anderson for 20 years and was a sheep producer in Daleville.
James was a graduate of Elwood High School and Purdue University. He reached the honor of Eagle Scout and was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a prior board member of Anderson Symphony.
He is survived by his wife whom he married September 18, 1948: Sara ''Betty'' (Shively) McCord. Sister: Annabelle Kimball of Nashua, New Hampshire.
