A lifelong resident of Fulton County, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Fulton United Methodist Church. He supported many community activities and was a director of the former Fulton State Bank.
Survivors include four daughters, Lettie Jane Leininger and her husband Don, Gurnee, Illinois, Mary Baker and her husband Oris, Fulton, Janice Niederer and her husband Glenn, Rochester, Joyce Powlan and her husband Robert, Kewanna; one stepdaughter Jeanne Eytcheson and her husband Jerry, Fulton. one stepson Bill D. Fairchild and his wife Pat, Rochester; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and two step-greatgrandchildren. Preceding in death were seven brothers, Robert, Andrew, Henry, George, Elgic, Burl, and Paul Rentschler.
