Mary passed away peacefully January 26, 2012, at the Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

Formerly of Bud, she had resided in Ghent the past 17 years.
Born January 23, 1922, in Princeton, on her recent birthday she turned 90 with family and friends surrounding her.
Mary is the daughter of the late Wendell S. Penturff and Gracie Jane Moye.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Carl Titta; brother, Harold Penturff; and sisters, Sara Daniel and Patricia Campbell. Also her dear daughter-in-law, Dana Titta.
She is a member of the Bud First Baptist Church that she loved so much she would drive from Ghent to Bud to be in her home church.

Mary grew up in Mullens and was a graduate of Mullens High School, class of 1940. She later married Carl and they moved to Bud to begin their family. She worked in the 1960 census, which became a career move for her. She was asked to take a permanent position with the Census Bureau having retired after 20 years.

Those left to carry on her legacy are sons, Gerald “Jerry” Titta from Chesapeake, Va., Carl “Randy” Titta from Belle, W.Va., and daughter, Mary Margaret Jenkins from Beckley; grandchildren, Donna (John) Warner, Jamey Titta, Jeff (Earlena) Titta, Michelle (Chad) Carte, Amy (Paul) Wood, and Josh (Lisa) Jenkins; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Ellen Jack, Sweetsie, Opal, Teresa, Emily, she loved you so much.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley.
Burial at Roselawn Memorial Garden.
