Florence and Earl H. Clark, long time residents of Houghton, died within 20 minutes of each other Saturday afternoon. She died at 5:50 p.m. in Portage View Hospital where she had been a patient for the past seven weeks. He died at 5:30 p.m. in the Houghton County Medical Center Facility where he had been a resident-patient for the past four months. Mrs. Clark, the former Florence Beehler was born Dec. 2, 1901, in Houghton and was a graduate of Houghton High School. She spent her life in Houghton. Mrs. Clark was a telegrapher and later the manager of the Hancock office of the Western Union. She was employed there for 30 years until retiring in 1951. She was a member of the Altar Society of St. Ignatius Church and a member of the Copper Country Rock Club. She was married to Mr. Clark in October of 1936. Surviving are six brothers, Albert, George and Fred Beehler, all of Pontiac, Edward of Detroit, Agassiz of Birmingham and Eugene of Houghton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Plowe Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. today, Monday. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Double funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St Ignatius Church, Fr. Glen Weber to officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
