Ellis (Butch) Clayton, age 61, formerly of 1301 Philippen St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning, March 4, 2002, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth.
He was born Sept. 26, 1940, in Manitowoc, son of the late Ellis C. and Jeanette Schaft Clayton. Butch was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. He was employed as a machinist at Eastman Manufacturing Company for 28 years, retiring in 1988. Butch bowled in the Friday Meadow Men's League and was the secretary of the league for many years.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Terry Clayton, Kaukauna; Jeff and LeeAnn Clayton, Manitowoc; special friend, Kathleen Tome, Manitowoc; her children: Todd (Joyce) Tome and Wendy (Curt) Cayemberg; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Raymond and Elaine Clayton, Rogers, Ark.; Robert and Judy Clayton, Manitowoc; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and John Konecny, Manitowoc; and Tammy and Brian Heili, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 3 p.m. Thursday until the time of service at 6 p.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Butch enjoyed spending time with this grandchildren, nieces, nephews and playing cards with his many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
