Bro. Roy Alexander, age 80, Turk Wilson Rd., Science Hill, KY passed away on Friday April 20, 2007 at Hazard Area Regional Hospital in Hazard, KY.
Mr. Alexander was born on May 7, 1926 to the late John and Louise Phelps Alexander. He was a Minister of the Gospel for over 40 years, a Naval Veteran of WWII, and a member of West Somerset Baptist Church for over 5 years.
He is survived by, his wife, Shirley Wilson Alexander, whom he married on May 5, 1990 in Science Hill, KY; 2 sons, Kenny Alexander, Lawrenceburg, KY, John (& Jane) Alexander, Memphis, TN; a daughter, Jennifer (& Doug) Burton, Eubank, KY; a stepson, Doug (& Kathy) Ross, Science Hill, KY; a stepdaughter, Sharon (& Terry) Keith, Eubank, KY; 2 sisters-in-law, Virginia Alexander, and Lillian Alexander; 6 grandchildren, Jessica (& Patrick) Butcher, Lucas Allen Burton, Jacob Douglas Burton, Kenneth Cody Alexander, Carson Wade Alexander, Margaret Meilin Alexander; 3 great-grandchildren, Kobe Daniel Butcher, Kaelyn Renee Butcher, Kyndal Jo Butcher; 4 step-grandchildren, Terra Childers, Hillary Ross, Alicia Keeney, Mitchel Keeney; 1 step-great-grandchild, Maddox Louthen; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by, his first wife, Margaret "Peggy" Alexander; 6 brothers, Arlie Alexander, Oather Alexander, Orville Alexander, Harold Alexander, John D. Alexander, and Robert Alexander; an infant sister, Mildred Alexander; and 4 sisters-in-law, Mildred Alexander, Thelma Alexander, Ruby Alexander, and Beulah Alexander.
Funeral services for Bro. Roy Alexander will be held 10:00am, Monday, April 23, 2007 in the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Butte, officiating. Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery.
