Leon C. Felde

Manitowoc - Leon C. Felde, age 81, a Manitowoc resident, died Monday evening, November 19, 2018 at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.

He was born on July 10, 1937 in Manitowoc, son of the late Carl and Leila (Rohbach) Felde. Leon was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1955. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1960 to 1962. On April 17, 1965 he married the former Kay Schneider in Manitowoc. The couple lived in Lansing, IL., for 30 years before moving back to Manitowoc. Leon was a merchant seaman for Inland Steel Company on the Great Lakes. He retired from the Edward L. Ryerson which was the flagship of Inland Steel Company and was one of the last ships built at the Manitowoc Shipyards. Leon was a member and donated many of his belongings from working on the Great Lakes to the Maritime Museum. He was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, and was an avid train collector.

Survivors include his wife: Kay Felde, Manitowoc; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Thomas and Renate Felde, Calumet City, IL., Jerry Felde, Chicago, IL.; one grandson: Scott Felde, Calumet City, IL.; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Karen and Elwin Lutzke, Manitowoc, Nancy Schneider, Green Bay, Toni Schneider, TN.; and special friends: The Schultz Family, IL. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Felde and two brothers-in-law: Keith Schneider and Kent Schneider.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Graveside Service will be Pastor Zachary DeArmond with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Leon's name to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
