They were born near Roanoke, Va., and received their education in the schools of Botetourt county, Va. They were married June 5, 1887. Thirteen children were born to them. Discontinuing the canning business in 1914, Mr. Garst, with his family, moved to Frederick, where he engaged in farming and dairying for fifteen years. He sold the farm in 1929 and since then he and Mrs. Garst have resided at their present home.

John Cline Garst, well-known retired farmer of Libertytown, died the the Frederick City hospital on Friday afternoon at 5:25 o'clock after an illness of six weeks. He was aged 71 years. He was the son of the late Noah and Elizabeth Grabill Garst. He was born near Roanoke, Va. and moved to Frederick county in 1914 and resided here continuously since. He was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethern for 40 years, a deacon of the church and a member of the Men's Bible Class. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Rader Garst and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. William C. Adams, Baltimore; Mrs. E. W. Layman, Cavina, Calif.; Mrs. William E. Dodd, Mt. Airy; John G. The body is at the funeral home 214 North Market street, where brief services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with final services at the Church of the Brethern, this city, at 3 o'clock. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Monrovia. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral director.
All children were born on Old Stahr farm Troutvllle, Va. The family lived there from 1887 to spring of 1914. The Garst's rented Railroad cars and moved eleven children, furniture, cows, Horses and farm equipment to Frederick County, Md. to an old farm of 210 acres, on Addision Creek near Ceresville mill.

Garst, Frederick; Mrs. Frank B. Martin, Smithfield, Pa.; Mrs. Robert Roderick, Frederick; Mrs. Herbert W. Duvall, Walkersville; Mrs. William McK. Duble, Frederick; Mrs. Joseph C. Hemp, Walkersville; Reber C. Garst, Frederick; Randall B. Garst, Libertytown.
The body is at the funeral home 214 North Market street, where brief services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with final services at the Church of the Brethern, this city, at 3 o'clock. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Monrovia. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral director.
All children were born on Old Stahr farm Troutvllle, Va. The family lived there from 1887 to spring of 1914. The Garst's rented Railroad cars and moved eleven children, furniture, cows, Horses and farm equipment to Frederick County, Md. to an old farm of 210 acres, on Addision Creek near Ceresville mill.
