Nancy Lee Bennett, 82, born on December 8, to the late Forrest W. and Beulah R. Falconbury. Nancy was also preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth N. White. Nancy graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1954, and went on to attend Anderson College, Class of ‘62. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. Nancy received a Master’s Degree in Educational Learning Disabilities, from Butler University. She met the love of her life, Alfred Ray Bennett, while at Anderson College and they married on June 16, 1957. Four children came from this 61 year union, Wesley (Suzy) Bennett, Plainfield, IN; Lisa (Keith) Harden, Indianapolis, IN; Doug (Diane) Bennett, Indianapolis, IN; and Beckie Bennett, Plainfield, IN. Nancy began her teaching career with Anderson Public School System, teaching Music and English. She also taught at Indianapolis Public Schools as well as teaching music at her alma mater, Ben Davis High School. She moved onto Plainfield Community School Corp., as the music teacher at Brentwood Elementary, in Plainfield, Indiana, to teach music to Kindergarten through 6th grade students. She retired after 35 years of teaching, from Plainfield Community School Corp., and Brentwood Elementary School, as the Music Teacher/Assistant Principal. Nancy loved music and loved to sing. Nancy directed the Plainfield Christian Church choir and hand bell choir, for eight years. She was involved in several organizations in Hendricks County. She led the Hendricks Country Chapter of the Purdue Women’s Glee Club. She was active in the Hendricks County Republican Party; as precinct committee person for thirty plus years and Vice Chairman for eight years. Nancy’s passions were many with the most important being her family. She loved and lived to see ten grandchildren, Grant (Erin) Harden, Nathan (Kayla) Harden, Ryan Bennett, Brendon (Stephanie) Bennett, Bryce (Macy), Colin, Jackson, Emily and Sean Bennett and April Best. She also loved deeply her five great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Parker Bennett, Ethan and Mason Harden and Aidan Harden. The nieces, nephews, cousins and honorary family members could fill an entire page and she loved them all. Nancy never met a stranger and couldn’t go anywhere without seeing former students. She so loved when they would approach her and remind her of how she touched their lives. Family was her world and she gave so much of herself so unselfishly to her entire family. Nancy will be deeply missed by anyone who knew her.
