Fred W. Mann, age 89, of Waterville, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Cambridge Place in Marysville surrounded by family.
Fred was born December 10, 1928 to Elmer and Ida (Bolejack) Mann of Waterville.
He attended Waterville High School, graduating in 1947 and taught at country schools for several years before entering the Army in 1952.
On June 6th 1957 he married Betty Pronske and they spent 30 years farming, but his passion was inventing and he holds many patents today.
The next 36 years were spent inventing. He enjoyed developing new ideas for farm life, trailers and anything he came across that needed fixed or a better way of doing. He put his stamp on the trailer industry and even designed and built custom Helicopter Transport Trailers for Boeing, one for the Chinook and one for the Osprey. He took his patent for a lid that applies insecticide to cattle while they eat their mineral and became a manufacturer of his own design. He was actively working in the shop and shipping orders throughout the United States this October.
Ever curious, his mind was always thinking, busy working, designing and drafting, playing chess and poker with people from all over the world via the internet and winning a good share of them too! He also enjoyed bowling and the casino with Betty, always trying to beat the machines one penny at a time.
Survived by his wife Betty, daughter Sherilyn Gibson (Tom), son Kerwin Mann, daughter Stephanie Mann (Mark), grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leland, Lonnie, Bob, Roy and Paul.
