Joseph Walter Bustard was born to Jane and John Bustard. He married Mary Eliza Daniels. To this union were born five children: Caroline (Carrie), Elizabeth "Lyle", John J., Robert F. and Mary Bustard. Joseph had been educated at the old East Ward School, which was situated on Van Houten St. where the present Central Fire Headquarters is situated.

He learned his trade as machinist at Grant's Locomotive Works, and worked at the locomotive business in both Grant's and Rogers Locomotive Works. He was one of Patterson's oldest musicians, being one of the charter members of the Local 248.

Joseph was survived by one brother, James and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Nolan and Mary and Bessie Bustard. He also leaves four children: Mrs. William Lauer, Mrs. Walter Condie, John and Robert F. Bustard. He died at age 68.

JOSEPH W. BUSTARD

Joseph W. Bustard, husband of the late Mary Bustard, a former well-known resident of this city, died yesterday at the home of his daughter in Rutherford. He was sixty-eight years old.

The funeral will be held from the residence of his son, Robert F. Bustard, 302 Sixth Avenue, this city, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. It is expected that a large number of the members of the Musicians' Union, No. 248, of which he was a member, will attend. Interment will be made at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
