Jo Ann I. O'Rourke, 88, of Bronson, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at Drews Place of Coldwater.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Bronson, with the Very Rev. Mark Vyverman V.F. officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bronson.
Jo Ann was born April 11, 1930, to Percy Davis and Thelma (Wheeler) Davis in Olean, N.Y. She was a graduate of Olean High School. Jo Ann entered the U.S. Navy on June 5, 1951, in Buffalo, N.Y., and was honorably discharged at Anacostia Naval Air Station June 14, 1954, in Washington, D.C., having attained the rank of PNSN. She was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
On May 8, 1954, she married Robert R. O'Rourke at Anacostia Naval Air Station in Washington and he sadly passed away July 27, 2011.
Jo Ann was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church and Bronson TOPS Club. She enjoyed riding her bike, going to casinos, crocheting, traveling, playing games, playing cards and traveling as she traveled to many places around the world with her husband. Jo Ann will be missed for her love of playing bingo and for her friendly competitive spirit. She thoroughly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events as well.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Cindy) O'Rourke of Bronson, Mary (Todd) Milliman of Sturgis, Dave (Rhonda) O'Rourke of Angola, Ind., Patty (Dan) Lepper of Bronson and Chris (Connie) O'Rourke of Sturgis; her grandchildren, Danielle (Matt) Chesney, Annaliese (Scott) Peffer, Robert O'Rourke, Ryan O'Rourke, Chad Milliman, Halie (Matt) Logan, Madison O'Rourke, Shawn Lepper and Nathan O'Rourke; and her seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, including her stepfather, who raised her from a young age, Fred "Buster" Hastings; her grandchildren, Micki O'Rourke and Devin O'Rourke; a brother, Jim Davis; and a sister, Jeanne Davis.
