On his WWI Draft Registration on 5 Jun 1917, Frederick noted that he had served four years as a seaman in the US Navy. He enlisted in the US Army on 12 Oct 1917 serving with 30 Co. 2 Provisional Dep Regt 152 Dep Brig to 25 Oct 1917; Provisional QMC Co #8 to 15 Feb 1918; machine shop truck unit 306 up to his death when he was accidentally killed by a truck on 26 Dec 1918.

Buried in the Shire family plot.

Born 2 Apr 1889 at 732 Prospect Pl. Brooklyn the 5th child of Maggie Breen Shire age 35
and Henry M Shire age 33, an insurance agent. Both parents were born in Ireland. (Birth Cert. #3124)

By 1900 the family was living on Vine St. in Richmond Hill. 1910 and 1915, Frederick was working as an electrician/electrical engineer and living with his family at 1216 Vine St. in Richmond Hill.
