Obituary for Mr. Alexander Manie Burks
Alexander Manie Burks was born May 29, 1933 in Alcorn, Mississippi the son of James Richmond Burks and Amie Peggy Marshall. He passed away November 23, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

Alexander was the Monarch of the Burks Family and a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the Korean War, attended Alcorn University and was employed by General Motors Corp. for 27 years. He married Emily Mae (Brown} Burks in 1952. Mr. Burks was an entrepreneur and notable business man. He was known as a "jack of all trades." He was strong willed, a hard worker and very determined. He never believed in sugar coating nothing. His favorite sayings were; "I been around the world, met everybody twice. There's no such thing as pie in the sky and your friends go in your pocket." He liked to fish, watch westerns and cartoons, play cards and Chinese checkers. Alex enjoyed telling war stories and giving financial advice. He loved animals.

Mr. Burks leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Mike (Michelle) Burks, and Janice Burks Brown (Anthony) both of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Africa Niles, Mike Burk, Jr., Cory A. Brown, Ricky T., Terrence D. and Asa A. Thomas, Angela Shaun, Lakeisha, Carlos, Marco, Mark, Andre, Terrence and Lovenia; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and his dog, "Jack". He leaves other relatives and friends including special friends, Morgan Carter, Clydie Powell, Kenneth Blair and Anthony Smith.
Alexander was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emily Mae Burks; sons, Fredrick (Ricky) and Marcus Huff, Jr., his parents, James Burks and Amy Marshall; brothers, James, Jimmy, Osborne and Melton Burks; sisters, Amie (Burks) Hampton, Sophie (Burks) Gross, many uncles aunts and other family members.

Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Jr.l will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
