"Requiem mass for John C. Moloney, 80, of 3638 S. E. Woodstock Blvd. will be 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church followed by burial in the family plot in Mount Calvary cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8:30 pm Tuesday at Mt Scott Funeral Home.
"Mr. Moloney, a native of Portland, died Saturday. He was appointed to the Portland Police Bureau in 1903, became a detective 10 years later. He rose to inspector in 1925 and became a lieutenant in 1929.
"He retired June 16, 1947, after more than 44 years on the force. At that time, only one other officer outranked him in years of service. His late brother, Patrick, also was a member of the Police Bureau. Mr. Moloney was a life member of the Portland BPOE 142.
"Survivors include his widow, Katherine (2nd wife) two stepsons, Robert and Thomas Curran, both of Los Angeles and 13 grandchildren."
