Doris A. Goodheart Addonizio, 84, of Ocean Township, New Jersey, died on Monday, December 12, 2005, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch NJ.

Born and raised in Newark NJ, she lived in Ocean Township for 24 years.

Predeceased her husband, the former Mayor of Newark, Hugh J. Addonizio; a son, Thomas C. Addonizio; and her parents, Charles and Margaret Goodheart, Doris was survived by three sons and four daughters-in-law, James J. & Cheryl Addonizio of Holmdel NJ, Frank H. Addonizio of Washington DC, Joseph P. & Colleen Addonizio of Ocean Township NJ, and Rachel Addonizio of Florham Park NJ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol & Jeremy Schwartz of Ocean Township NJ and Lois & Daniel Tafro of Ocean Township NJ; a sister, Gloria Kocum of Union NJ; and eight grandchildren, Marc (& his wife Robyn) Schwartz, Daniel (& his wife Stephanie) Tafro, Rachel Tafro, John Addonizio, Anthony Addonizio, Thomas Addonizio, Gabrielle Addonizio, and Courtney Phillips.
