In an extended article in the Saint Paul Globe on July 3, 1897, Deputy Sheriff George Allen's suicide the day before at Kohlman Lake on the north side of St. Paul was examined in detail, mentioning that he was survived by his parents, Alvaren and Louise Allen, his wife and two children, A. Snow Allen, age 20, and Marie, age 17. The Masonic funeral was described in the paper the next day.
In the same paper on Nov. 7, 1897, an article titled "Her Son as Cupid" describes the marriage of his widow, Georgia, or Georgiana (Eaton), to Percy Hirsch, a long-time family friend. The wedding took place in Nashville, Tennessee and everyone in the family was evidently pleased. The new couple moved to Chicago where Georgia died in 1907. Georgia was born in Iowa in 1857 the daughter of Dr. George Eaton and Mary Thurston. When they divorced in 1862, and after Mary remarried Florentine Snow, she had the surnames of her children changed legally to Snow.
