Lena Mae Bateman Beasley, 92, of Ararat, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Patrick County on January 20, 1915 to the late William L. and Annie Joyce Bateman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Amos Beasley; a brother, C. Garnet Bateman; three sisters, Delcie B. Love, Mary Lou Smith and Oma Virginia Jessup, and an infant sister. She was a member of Hills Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and had been the owner/operator of a country store.
Surviving are two nieces, Betty S. Clark of Stuart and Mary Frances Turner of Roanoke; and four nephews, Stephen Jessup of Westfield, N.C., Jerry Love of Claudville, James S. Love of Stuart, and Ronnie Love of Roanoke.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Allen Vass officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
