Ira was the son of Benjamin Kellogg and Sarah Jennings. He married Maria Whitney Jan. 1, 1873. Ira was a travelling representative for sewing machine and organ manufacturer companies. He operated stores in Owosso and Durand, MI before purchasing the Forbes store in Stockbridge. Ira eventually moved to Mason where he was a successful businessman, alderman and mayor. After Maria's death, he married Mrs. Emogene Thompson of Lewiston, Illinois.
