Hiram Augustus "Pete" Aswell
Celebration of Life services for Hiram A. "Pete" Aswell, will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 31, 2011, at Griffin Funeral Company.
"Pete" was born January 20, 1919, in Ruston, LA, to the late Thomas Edwin and Bessie Irene Richardson Aswell and departed this life on January 28, 2011, at St. Francis Medical center in Monroe, LA.
"Pete" worked in the petrochem industry for the past 43 years, first owning and operating an inspection company and then as a consultant until 2009.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
"Pete" was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Zoder and Thomas Aswell, his first wife; of twenty-six years, Lettie Austin Aswell, and his second wife; of twenty-six years, Juanita Goodin Aswell.
Left to cherish "Pete's" memory and tell his stories are one son; Cecil Aswell and wife Louise of Sacramento; CA, one daughter, Jeanette Herren of West Monroe, LA; one sister; Dixie Cho and husband Clarence of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren; Robin Henderson of Long Beach, MS and Lynnette Robinson of Austin, TX., seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of other family members and many great friends.
It was "Pete's" wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, (800) 241-GIFT (4438) in honor of "Pete" Aswell.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Frances Hospital and all the support and prayers from friends and family have been greatly appreciated. A special thanks to niece, Gloria Jean Owens, Mrs. Bobbie Harvey, for taking such good care of "Pete" is his greatest time of need and Terri Dana for always being there whenever needed.
