Marvin E. Duckworth, 85, formerly of Peoria, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the Veteran's Hospital in Danville.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1921, in Peoria to Franky E. and Helene Hannum Duckworth. He married Freida M. Davis on Aug. 25, 1946, in Peoria.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Christine Drier of East Peoria; two sons, Steven (Brinda) Duckworth of Peoria and Mark (Juli) Duckworth of Rock Falls; one brother, Philip (Yvonne) Duckworth of West Lafayette, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, James Drier, and a nephew, Dr. Glen Duckworth.

Marvin served in the United States Army Air Force as staff sergeant during World War II, spending four years in the South Pacific, earning four bronze battle stars.

He worked as a typesetter for 27 years at Loheide & Caswell Typesetting Company. Later he worked at Midway, Pleasure Island and Crossroads Bowling Lanes.

Entombment will be at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
