Dick was born to the Lee McConnell and Augusta McEvoy McConnell, and was a 1962 graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School in Co. Bluffs, and in 1992 received his BA from UNO.
Dick worked for 38 years at Offutt AFB as their Records Clerk and later for Douglas County Probate Court for 12 years retiring in 2015.
He was a member of the Catholic faith; Omaha Philatelic Society, where he served as past president and editor of their Space Filler News; American Philatelic Society; and the Trans-Mississippi Philatelic Society. He was a past article contributor to the Nonpareil on stamp collecting.
