BRISCH, THOMAS L. - Thomas L. Brisch, 99, of Galena, IL, passed away Oct. 21, 2009 at Galena Senior Care Community. Funeral Mass will be 11a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galena. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL, on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, and where a Jesuit service will be held at 11 a.m. prior to burial. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel , Galena, where the rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. He was born Dec. 20, 1909 in Chicago, IL, the son of Michael and Mary, nee Coenen, Brisch. Tom graduated from St. Ignatius High School class of 1927 and went to earn his law degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. He is survived by a son, Thomas; and a daughter, Brenda; four grandchildren; a special friend, Marge DePinto; a brother, Joseph (Jacqueline) Brisch; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three daughters; Bonnie McCracken, Rebecca and Kathryn Brisch; three brothers, Michael, John and Carl; a sister, Marie Kerpec. Thomas L. Brisch On European Trip - Thomas L. Brisch, oldest son of Commissioner and Mrs. Michael Brisch, left Wednesday for a seven week's trip to the different countries of Europe. Thomas who is in his fourth year at St. Ignatius college, was picked for this trip for scholarship, as the highest in standing in his class. There will be six or seven boys from other classes in the school who will go along, and a larger party from a number of the Catholic institutions of higher learning in different parts of the county. The trip is to be a personally conducted one under the direction of teachers. They sail on the steamer Majestic. After their European trip they will stop at Washington and other eastern points of interest on their way home.
