Winifred (Lake) Oldroyd, 89, a life-time resident of Milford, CT, and beloved wife of the late Thomas L. Oldroyd, passed away at her home. Wyn was born in Milford, CT, daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys (Eger) Lake. Artistically
gifted, Wyn attended Traphagen School of Fashion, worked as a fashion designer for Conde Nast in New York City, and, later as an interior
designer. She was the co-owner with her husband of Our Shop of Decorative Home Furnishings, on Broad Street, Milford. She was the proud
granddaughter of Simon Lake, inventor of the submarine, who also resided in Milford. Constantly active in her spare time, Wyn enjoyed
sailing, sewing, flower arranging, playing bridge, attending art exhibitions, and the company of friends. Wyn will be missed by her daughter, Mallory Lake, and son-in-law, Robert Engel; her sister-in-law, Celeste Lake, of Florida; her niece, Gail (Charter) Negaard, of Virginia; her nephews, Peter, George, Jeff, and Rick Lake, and her other loving relatives. Wyn was predeceased by her sister, Miriam (Lake) Leonard, and her brother, Dick Lake.
