Bernice, 100, Lima, passed away at 12:51 p.m., at her daughter's home.

She was the daughter of Sylvenus E. and Cleda M. (Zeigler) Whitacre. On May 2, 1937, she married Melvin N. LaViness, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters: Ardythe Ann Fark and Cheryl (S. (Earl) Fisher, both Lima, and Karen Kay (Kevin) McMonigle, Franklin; a sister, Jennielee (Les) Scott, Batavia; and seventeen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased are an infant son, William Neal LaViness; a son-in-law, Wayne Fark; two sisters: Thelma A. Cooper and Madalyn Whitacre; four brothers: Henry, Harry, James and Joseph Whitacre; and a grandson, Robert Neal Fark.

Having worked at Liberty National Bank of Ada for over 28 years, she retired in 1983 as a Vice-President. She enjoyed reading and square dancing, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Services will be at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel, with Elder Collin Deitsch officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
