Freddie Ethelyn Burson, age 90, long time resident of Inola passed away at her home surrounded by her daughters and special friend Bonnie Kelly, on Sunday, December 9th, 2018. She followed him to California, then back to Tulsa and finally to a family farm in Inola in 1968. Making a loving and comfortable home for her husband and three daughters was her main focus in life. When she was widowed in 1984, she became a rancher working and checking cattle, ordering farm supplies, and keeping the farm records. She was an outdoors person who loved her land and working in her flower gardens.

Freddie’s employment outside of the home included working as a phone operator for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in California and Southwestern Bell in Tulsa. Later after moving to Inola she worked at Unrau’s Meat Locker and as a cook at Inola Public Schools. Her volunteer activities included: Hay Capital Extension Homemakers Club, Meals on Wheels, Rogers County Conservation Board member and officer, Rogers County election Board officer.

Freddie is survived by her brother Jerry Stockton and wife Peggy of Russellville, Arkansas, daughter, Debbie Brokaw and husband Robert of Tulsa, Janet Spurlock and husband Terry, and Beth Orender and husband Calvin both of Inola. Mimi had seven grandchildren Matt Crook, Stephanie Abbott, Kristin Gibson, Brett Spurlock, Jodi Cox, Ross Orender and Tessa Orender. She was also blessed with ten (and one on the way) great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Freddie will be held on Friday, December 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at Inola First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Disabled American Veterans of Claremore at PO Box 2446, Claremore, OK 74108.
