The Lord graciously answered her prayers when she met her true love, Lloyd G. Dodson. They married December 27, 1954 in Lexington, Illinois. They were blessed with a daughter, Janet (Chris) Sharkey, and a son, David (Susan) Dodson. They joyfully welcomed their precious grandchildren, Adam Dodson, Chad (Ashley) Dodson, Christopher (Julia) Sharkey, and Katie (Trey) Draper.
Everyone who knew or met Mary commented on her beautiful smile. She took pleasure in sharing the source of her joy. She would smile a little brighter, lift her finger to heaven, and say, "It is because I know Jesus!"
Her dearly beloved husband, Lloyd entered Heaven April 1, 2003 and now through her faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Mary is in her Heavenly Home. To you, O Lord, I lift my soul!
We celebrate God's Mercy and Mary's life. Visitation is at Calvert-Johnson and Musselman Memorial Home in Lexington, on Sunday, December 16, from 2 to 4 PM. Mary's funeral celebration will be held at her life long church, the Lexington Methodist Church at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 17. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Ronald McDonald House,610 N. 7th Street
Springfield, IL 62702.
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that we may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen (cf Roman 15:13)
