Isaac Lofton was a true American, a true Southerner. By the time he enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862, the Lofton family had been in America for decades, more than a century. Isaac was the son of Thomas and Jane Bonds Lofton. His father fought in the War of 1812.
The Daughters of the American Revolution designated both his grandfathers, John Loftin and Dudley Bonds, and three of his great grandfathers, Thomas Lofton, Cornelius Lofton, and William Meredith as DAR Ancestors: Captain William Meredith was named as one of the Heroes who fought at the Battle of King's Mountain.
